Boone County Divorce Records
Divorce cases, part of dissolution of marriage proceedings, are handled by the Boone County Circuit Court. The public can look up records created during these proceedings to confirm that the court has granted the divorce or review publicly available details.
Couples who have concluded divorce proceedings may need certified copies of the final judgment as proof of divorce during other activities, such as insurance purchases, tax filings, name changes, and remarriages. These certified judgments, called divorce decrees, are obtainable through the office of the circuit court clerk.
Importantly, the Vital Statistics Branch (Office of Vital Statistics or OVS) of the Kentucky Department of Health also provides divorce certificates for divorces issued since 1958 to the public. The process involves providing, among other details, the full names of the divorced parties, the month and year of the marriage or divorce, and the name of the Kentucky County (Boone County) where the divorce decree or marriage license was issued. The OVS provides an application form where requestors can enter these details, alongside other information, such as their receiving mailing address.
